Newcomer Information

Hohenwald has all the benefits of small town life with the convenience of Nashville’s attractions and services only an hour and a half’s drive away. The friendliness and high morals of the people are often cited by newcomers as the main draw. The county is filled with churches and civic organizations welcoming anyone to become involved. Old timers said that if you ever wear out a pair of shoes in Hohenwald, you would never want to leave. For many people moving here today, it does not take that long. Some are convinced after one trip that they want to make it home.

A National Park runs north-south through the county. The Buffalo River runs east-west. Creeks, waterfalls and forests are spread out through the rest. It's not uncommon to see deer, turkey, or even eagles.

The climate is moderate, yet there are four distinct seasons. In a normal year, the winter is relatively mild and there is adequate rainfall in the summer. In spring, the woods come alive with flowering redbuds and dogwoods. In autumn, the leaves turn red and gold, attracting leaf watchers.
