THE STRAND THEATRE

Hohenwald’s 1939 Strand Theatre has returned to life and once again brings entertainment to Main Street. Entertainers such as the Grand Ole Opry singer Roy Acuff and comedian Rod Brasfield performed there, as well as western movie actors such as Bob Steele. “It’s A Wonderful Life” actor, and John Wayne sidekick Ward Bond even made a Strand appearance.

The theater now presents a variety of musical concerts, movies and dramatic performances. The current calendar ranges from Big Band Swing to Country, Opera, Classical and oldies rock. Shakespeare in the Park is becoming an annual outdoor event at the Bandstand.
