Blackburn Farmstead

Life on the early American frontier is explored here at one of the few remaining farmsteads on the original Natchez Trace. The house doubled as the first Lewis County court house and the farm at one time served as a stagecoach stop on the northern border of the Chickasaw Nation. The first Grand Jury deliberated in the corncrib, and both the Blackburn House and Corncrib are listed on The National Register of Historic Places for their prominent role in the forming of Lewis County in 1843. The Historic Blackburn Farmstead is available for day tours, seminars, Scout outings, church and school groups, as well as reunions, weddings and festivals. Call Linda Gavin at (931)964-3478 for reservations.
