Stop at one of the convenience markets for bottled water and hiking essentials. Set out for an early morning hike at the Devil’s Backbone State Natural Area (about one and one half hours) or at one of the trails at the Meriwether Lewis Park, operated by the National Park Service. Take time to visit the wayside stops along the Natchez Trace Parkway, including Lewis’ grave. Options. Take a wildflower tour or bird watching tour in season.
